On the Market: Okanagan Valley, Canada
July 1, 2008
LOCATION: East of Vancouver, in Okanagan Valley, on the northern tip of the Sonoran Desert.
BACKGROUND: The land was
purchased in the early 1960s by Alan Trethewey, who used it as a private
vacation property for friends and family until his son, Derek, bought and
developed it into a resort with the intent of making
the same experience
available to other families.
STATS: Each Ridge Home has three to five bedrooms and bathrooms, and some feature media rooms, wine cellars, and hot tubs. Owners have access to a private marina, 4,000 feet of lakeshore, two pools, four hot tubs, two beaches, and a tunnel-accessed lakefront picnic area. In the surrounding area there are also several wineries, golf courses, and ski hills. The resort is a 40-minute drive from Kelowna International Airport.
WHAT SETS IT APART: "We’re flanked by a 240-acre park, with a stunning lake in front," says Jordan Tetreau, owner of Mint Property Group, specifying that the density of homes average about three per acre, much less than hotels in the area. And, according to Tetreau, Derek’s goal was achieved: "The resort has a great sense of community because there are so many kids, and so many families."
MARKET INQUIRIES: $1.65 million to $3.95 million. Jordan Tetreau, 866.711.8717, www.mintpg.com
