Accessories: The Lone Cyprus Package
August 1, 2008
Since 2003, Lexus has offered a Pebble Beach edition of the SC 430 hardtop convertible. The limited series has always included unique color choices and a multitude of Lone Cyprus logos, but little else distinguished it from the standard models. This year, as Lexus extends the special edition to include the RX 350 SUV ($3,880) and ES 350 sedan ($4,170), the option packages have become more than merely symbolic.
Given Lexus’ recent sponsorship of the United States Golf Association and its affiliated national championships, golf accessories were a natural fit. The Callaway Golf Experience package combines a dozen personalized Tour ix golf balls with three Callaway club options: an FT-i driver, a Hyper X driver and one X Hybrid, or three X-Forged wedges and an Odyssey White Hot XG 2-Ball putter. A case of the Tour ix balls is available for those whose club set is already filled to capacity.
Aside from golf-specific packages, there is a travel option that comes with a three-piece leather luggage set and two pairs of Callaway eyewear. Tailored for playing golf, the sunglasses reduce glare when driving on the course or the road. For non-golfers, Lexus offers an Epicurean Encounter package that includes a selection of Napa Valley wines, a leather wine tote, and a Viking cutlery or cookware set.
Finally, the family of Pebble Beach editions is set to gain another member this fall with the LS 600h L sedan, which will include an optional travel experience to Pebble Beach Resorts.
