Mile Markers: 2008 Infiniti M45x
August 1, 2008
The Infiniti M45x has quickly become a road-trip favorite, with journeys to Flagstaff, Newport Beach, and Santa Barbara bringing the odometer above 10,000 miles.
4,943—"The M45x handles winding mountain roads with ease and the tires grip the road like Velcro," says art director Kent Bancroft.
7,921—"I drive a 2008 BMW 528i, and this Infiniti is a good deal faster off the line," writes Rick Hagaman. "I drove two passengers that own Mercedes-Benzes and BMWs. They were very impressed. It’s a shame the exterior design doesn’t do the car justice."
9,273—"The brakes are more sensitive than I would expect and certainly do the job well," says webmaster Michael Kirrene. "The entertainment/navigation dashboard is like a 747 control panel—there seems to be more knobs and buttons than required."
10,240—"Genuinely vexing is the car’s herky-jerky transmission—hiccoughing and pulsing like a python swallowing too large a goat," notes Robert Ross, president of Arts & Antiques. "The seamless-shifting automatic gearboxes of the German cars do no favors to the Infiniti by way of comparison."
